I would like to take a moment to thank those who wrote me, wrote for my candidacy, talked about the issues we face, and helped in any material or spiritual way.
The message of free markets and the appropriate role of government was served well by the campaign, and I can take solace in the 4455 votes cast in support of such ideals. Instead of simply hearing the debate of ideas between the left and the far left, Grand Traverse voters also heard about limited government, and its responsibility to not provide advantages through takings, but rather an equal field where free markets can compete.
Also Right To Work, as an accountability tool was part of the platform, and kitchen table conversations will be enhanced as it too was offered as a means to bring Michigan and our region back into a prosperous state.
Though 4455 votes were cast in favor of those messages, I would be wrong to assume that others who voted for the incumbent don’t share the values that would support such ideals. I recognize that loyalties, fear of unknowns, and miscommunications about where I stand on issues such as Abortion and Gun Rights kept votes in his camp. For all their reasons, they too made a choice they felt was best.
This is why it is important to continue with promoting free market values, and the message that control of one’s purse is certainly control of their individual liberty.
Thank you.
