Glaciers made Michigan what it is.

Imagine if those had not receded, and long before any man made influences on nature.

" I am a seeker of solutions, and feel the best answers are found when all the facts are known." ... like why are all of the glaciers in the world melting and why are the ocean's water levels of the world rising?

Great perceptions based on reality Jason.
First on the Politics side. It is well known but often overlooked that all politics is a kind of warfare done by different means. What you have witnessed from the inside view is that some will betray you for their own personal future imagined gain. The Fourth Estate loves this kind of action especially if it fits their own objectives of transforming society in a secular humanistic way. Besides it sells newspapers. The media, as we refer to them today, are very adept at working the agent sabotour angle just so they can undermine credibility of "real men and women" who dare espouse truth that contradicts their agenda.
On the prospect of our county, and country's, fiscal future by way of getting a greater bank for our buck - you have a lot working against you. Most of which are federal economic policies and organizations like the Federal Reserve Bank, with help from the U.S. Treasury, that are undermining the very value of the buck in question. The dollar value is shrinking because it's quantity is increasing at near hyper-inflationary rates. Inflation is a hidden tax caused by the Fed that steals it's value from all other dollars. County dollars will not go as far in the future so you will have to be innovative in conducting business, and of course cutting back spending. End the Fed and get commodity backed honest currency back into circulation. But that is not the job of the County Commission. Stand firm against those who wish to use "federal" dollars to solve our economic woes. "Federal dollars" IS our money.

One of the things I try to do when writing or commenting on blogs, is to actually put my name in there somewhere, so that people know there is some accountability there.

If its worth saying, sign it.

Who is it you are trying to subsidize with taxpayer dollars? Is it the 23 land owners? Who?

Generally I would not like to have these things on this site either. I have several other venues for discussions other than this. In this case however, the issue had to be addressed, and because the issue of myself being a sitting commissioner made the story of more interest, I felt I needed to address it where it lays.

Thank you for your input. As a commissioner, I hope to let my performance speak for itself.

Mr. Gillman,

I am disappointed that you have apparently chosen to address issues unrelated to your elected position while touring the Health Department as an elected official. Like you say, I wish you would keep your comments "behind closed doors", when they don't apply to your position as an elected official. What were you attempting to learn from you questioning that would assist you in representing your constituency better? (I am a constituent.)

I consider Traverse City to be an inclusive environment-one where I would be proud to have raised my children. I believe your comments as represented in the news and on your website are out of step with the majority of the residents of the area. I had hoped that I would be reading and hearing of your actions to improve county government-not your personal issues.

What I have learned from personal experience is that gay persons can make a major contribution to society and be loving parents and partners. My daughter, who is gay, graduated from college with honors, is employed as an successful engineer, has been a coach to the youth in her area, and is a good mother and loving partner. I don't believe anything is gained by trying to answer the question as to how or why she is gay nor make disparaging remarks about the fact that she is.

So let me say, I will try to judge your performance as a commissioner based on your actions in that environment and hope that you keep your unrelated comments out of the news.

Feel free to elaborate, or is that merely a friendly way of saying "shut up" ?

I accept constructive criticism ..when it has both parts.

Jason: From what I've seen and heard of you, I think that as a new commissioner you should talk less and listen more. This would have let you avoid this whole situation.
