To date, Commissioner Hooper:
- Has consistently supported full benefits for part time county commissioners at an annual cost of $13,500 for his own benefit package, while not all commissioners accept it.
- Has also supported keeping the full benefits packages for County Road Commissioners who meet once a month drawing a $20,000 annual salary and benefit package.
- Decided that a Quarter Million dollar 2 year severance package is appropriate for the County Administrator, while his counterpart in the city government would receive only six months salary.
- Voted against the investigation of the septage plant design and construction, claiming “reputations are at stake”
- Claimed the septage plant will “break even” at the March 2010 Peninsula Township Board meeting, when the reality is that it will likely lose  over $1,000,000 next year alone. In one way or another, this WILL cost county taxpayers.
- Voted to have the county take over a 62 year old baseball program that was run by the American Legion, adding to the cost and complexity of county government unnecessarily.
